Fall Kick Off - To all Parents, Family and Friends

As our 07’ season gets ready to kick-off we are very pleased to announce several new and exciting things.

For the first time ever we will now have two teams competing in NYS Rugby Conference competition. Our 1st-Side will compete and defend its title in D1, and we will now have our 2nd-Side competing in NYS D3. This is very exciting in that not only will it guaranty that 42 players will be rostered each week in league play, but also that 50 to 55 players will be wearing our colors and competing week to week. New Era - New Direction - In an effort to promote, market, and further identify our club, we will once again be playing as the University at Buffalo Rugby Football Club. After much hard thought and discussion, our Executive Board agreed that Campus Image and National Identity were being lost playing as the Mad Turtles. Although this name served us well for many years, we just could not get past the non-professional image and at times confusion that this name evoked. This, along with our recent changing to the school colors of blue, we now can clearly be called the UB RFC, as our club founders insightfully intended. For the record, the women have also changed to school colors for the same reasons.

New Sponsorship and Merchandising Program – We are very excited to announce a new sponsor to UB Rugby. Blue Bison Sports of Williamsville NY is on board for the 07/08 campaign. Ken Cummins, Owner and President has agreed to sponsor UB Rugby for the upcoming school year. In addition Blue Bison Sports will be exclusively featuring UB RFC merchandise in its retail outlet along with a full line of rugby equipment and international rugby gear. However, the exciting part and more important aspect is, we now have a Team Store available on-line. To kick this off, the new UB Addidas warm-up is NOW available to everyone - Alumni, Parents, Players, Family and Friends. This piece is in store and ready for purchase. Other items are being added as we speak. We expect the Team Store to carry about five or six items at any given time. The complete list will be available within a week or two. We will also have a team jersey available for the holiday season.

(Note: Blue Bison's web site is under construction so the final UB Team Store page is not up yet. There will be a Team Store link/page on our web site as well. However, the warm-up is in stock and ready to go. The cost of this great top is just $65.00 plus shipping.)
